Lincoln is one of those American luxury brands that always seems to be on the brink of falling into oblivion. Hardly any of its former products are still being produced, and those that are continue to be outsold by Cadillac and others. But we have to admit that the Navigator is a remarkably good SUV. It's packed with tech and is surprisingly affordable.

You can also get a Black Label model with even more luxury, but the Navigator still isn't an especially pretty vehicle. However, the stunning new sedan concept revealed by Lincoln is gorgeous and could signal a change of design focus for the brand. Whether it makes it to production unchanged or not, we decided to freshen up the Navigator with the same styling.

That concept whose face we've grafted onto the Navigator is called the Zephyr Reflection. It's only destined to reach the Chinese market - Lincoln has learned the hard way that sedans are all but unwanted in the States. However, the existing Navigator doesn't have that forward-looking, contemporary design that vehicles like the new Cadillac Lyriq do.

Putting a fresh face on the Navigator is only a start, but it could be a promising one if the rest of the vehicle is updated similarly. As per our render above, the proportions of the Navigator needn't change. If anything, it looks more imposing than before despite being prettier.

If Lincoln wants to keep the Navigator on the market, it might want to follow the same path as the Corsair and go electric. And a redesign like this would serve the luxury automobile well. However, some cost reductions may need to be made.

Sure, there aren't currently any mass-production electric SUVs of this size yet, but the smaller electric SUVs that are out there cost around $20,000 less than the cheapest Navigator. Electric powertrains add weight and, in some ways, complexity, so the entire vehicle would need a rethink. However, it could land at the right price point to be successful. It certainly would be worth the effort if it saves the brand and looks good doing it.
