First, the good news. Toyota has officially confirmed it will unveil its all-new 300 Series Land Cruiser on Wednesday, June 9. The bad news is that it's not expected to be sold in North America. This hardly comes as a surprise since the outgoing model is extremely expensive and a slow seller. Toyota isn't abandoning the SUV market by any means. It will launch a new three-row SUV (alongside its Lexus twin) in the near future. Both will be built in Indiana.

The first video teaser for the next-generation Toyota Land Cruiser has been released and can be viewed below. It's only a brief clip and is expected to be the first of several between now and the reveal. Only a couple of weeks ago, new Land Cruiser details leaked confirming its dimensions, platform, and powertrain.

Under the hood will be a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 409 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. A 3.3-liter turbo diesel V6 pumping out 301 hp and 516 lb-ft of twist is the other option. Both engines will be paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The TNGA-F platform will underpin the body-on-frame SUV and that's good news for those still holding out hope it'll eventually come to the US; the next-generation Tundra will utilize the same platform.

The 2022 Land Cruiser GR Sport measures 195.4 inches long, 76.5 inches tall, and 78.3 inches wide. The more luxurious ZX trim is a bit narrower at 78 inches.

Both variants have a 112.2-inch wheelbase. Ditching the V8 is one of several things Toyota has done to improve the big SUV's fuel economy. Shaving weight was the second priority. This translates to lightweight components like an aluminum roof and a smaller fuel tank. General exterior styling won't be a dramatic departure from the current model, but the interior will feature many significant upgrades. A new 12.3-inch infotainment display will be standard fare and a 14-speaker audio system, a rear seat entertainment, and quad-zone automatic climate control are some additional equipment.

We'll have complete details in just one week's time so stay tuned.
