With a three-week gap between the Malaysian and this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix, what else was the two-time world champion going to do in his spare time?
Ferrari F1 driver Fernando Alonso is hoping to put his miserable performance at the Malaysian Grand Prix behind him this weekend in Shanghai, but before that he and teammate Felipe Massa were sequestered at Maranello to undertake the trivial side of their profession. The promotional work must be a real drag for these motorsport megastars, but it does have its occasional perks. While doing the rounds at Ferrari HQ, Alonso was given some time behind the wheel of the new LaFerrari hypercar on the Fiorano test track.
Ferrari claims LaFerrari can lap the circuit in less than 1:20, which makes it three seconds quicker than the F12 and nearly five seconds faster than the Enzo or 458 Italia. We're not sure Alonso was attempting a fast lap, but he wasn't holding back either.
