Can't wait for the new M3 and have plenty of money to spend? Alpina has once again cooked up a workable, 410hp solution.
The new BMW M3 sedan and its M4 coupe counterpart likely won't be revealed until the Frankfurt show in September, but for enthusiasts who can't wait, Alpina is here to offer its solution. Previewed just last week, Alpina - a tuner that works closely with BMW - has just unveiled photos and specs of its new B3 Bi-Turbo at the Geneva Motor Show. Power the hot 3, as you may have guessed, comes from a twin-turbo engine - one with 3 liters, six cylinders, 410 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque.
Available in sedan or wagon form, the B3 uses a ZF eight-speed automatic to drive the rear wheels, or with BMW's xDrive system, all four. Alpina claims the sedan can go from 0-62 mph in just 4.2 seconds and has an impressive top speed of 190 mph, returning 30.9 mpg on the US cycle. The Alpina B3 doesn't visually deviate much from the standard 3 Series sedan but does include an aero kit consisting of subtle front and rear spoilers, side skirts, rear diffuser along with a set of classically styled 20-inch alloy wheels. There's also a stainless-steel exhaust, a revised suspension and a range of options for the interior, though pricing has yet to be announced.
