Alpina Unveils Facelifted And More Powerful B6 xDrive Gran Coupe

Reveal / 37 Comments

Now more powerful than the M6, that's important.

The Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe has been available in the US for less than a year at this point, but it is already getting a facelift. The differences are almost hard to spot from the outside, amounting to a new hood, grille and headlights. Of course, there is still plenty to differentiate it from the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe that it's based off of. But this doesn't mean the car hasn't been changed significantly, just that those changes have mostly taken place under the new hood.

Here we find that the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 has gone from a rating of 540 horsepower and 540 lb-ft of torque to 600 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. That's a noticeable gain, and not only that, but it's also most definitely more than the 560 hp that the M6 is offering. The B6 makes good use of the power as well, going from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, versus the 4.0 seconds from the M6 with the Competition Package. Prices will start at $117,300, which is a few thousand more than the M6, but not so much that you'd likely notice, and it's a steal for that kind of exclusivity.
