Alpine is set to enter the US market as early as 2028 with a lineup of electric SUVs and coupes that will take on the Porsche Taycan and Macan EV. But before then, one of its vehicles will land on American soil earlier - the A110 Pikes Peak, which will be fielded in the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb later this June.

Before its US shakedown, Alpine has released technical specs and details of its Pike Peak contender. The A110 GT4 Evo-based car has been heavily modified, with unnecessary bits and pieces being shed to help lower the car's weight to 2,094 pounds. For its rear mid-mounted engine, the 1.8-liter four-cylinder four-pot mill received a massive turbocharger with anti-lag tech. A Magneti-Marelli SRG 140 ECU manages this motor, producing up to 500 horsepower at 7,500 rpm.

Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a 3MO six-speed sequential transmission, sintered steel twin-disc clutch, and a self-locking limited slip differential. For stopping power, the car gets six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo calipers.

A set of three-way adjustable ALP Racing Suspension shock absorbers were fitted to the suspension. The aluminum rims are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport H S5C+ tires, with staggered sizes to help further reduce weight and improve the car's overall performance.

As the team is relentless in its pursuit of making a great hill climb challenger, Alpine revealed that the A110 Pikes Peak underwent extensive testing at the French Alps to mimic the historic hill climb race conditions. There, the team has hit all of its initial targets, ready for the next stage of development.

On June 8, the car will be tested on a track near Denver, to check for possible issues, since the fluids will be drained while heading to the US. Such will get it ready for a major three-day shakedown on Pikes Peak from June 9 to 11 - two weeks before the actual race happening on June 25, 2023.

Alpine's dead serious about making a good impression by trying to perform well in the historic hill climb race. Let's see how well it performs versus crowd favorites like the specially modified Radford 62-2, Lia Block's Hoonipigasus, the Ford SuperVan 4, and Aston Martin AMR Vantage GT3, among others.
