Amalgam Has The Perfect Christmas Gifts For The Gearhead In Your Life

Supercars / 2 Comments

From $230 sculptures to $15,000 engine recreations, there's something for everyone.

Christmastime is fast approaching, and it's time to get yourself or the gearhead in your life something truly special. Thankfully, companies like Amalgam make things so much easier, with a wide variety of model cars, sculptures, and motoring-themed artwork to choose from. The best items have now been put together in a new Amalgam Collection Gift Guide.

The 1:18 scale Jaguar E-Type would make a fine addition to any model car collection. Amalgam has gone to great lengths to accurately recreate the classic sports car. Aside from rigorous digital scanning, engineering and design teams went over the Jag with a fine-tooth comb to ensure a perfect product.

The model is encased in a luxury box with a protective sleeve and sits on a black base. There's also a certificate of authenticity and information about the vehicle. At $1,183, it's not cheap - but it's far more affordable than a fully-restored E-Type.

Those with a passion for motorsport will appreciate the Gulf-liveried Ford GT40 under their Christmas tree. The 1:18 scale GT40 pays tribute to chassis #1075, a motorsport legend that claimed victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1969.

Another Le Mans legend, the #22 Martini-liveried Porsche 917 KH, is also available for purchase. This particular 1:18 scale is limited to just 100 pieces and is highly detailed. Purists will appreciate the replicated race dirt and damage, which includes oil and mud stains, and the damaged headlight cover. The Porsche retails for $1,896 while the Ford is priced at $1,183.

If these 1:18 recreations are too pricey, Amalgam has several slightly more affordable gift ideas that will also appeal to automotive enthusiasts.

Formula 1 fans will adore the $317 Ferrari F1-75 steering wheel. Modeled after the same tiller used by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz during the 2022 season, the 1:4 recreation is hand-built by a small team of artisans. It reportedly took 450 hours to develop the piece and would make for a great office or study display.

Other F1-themed gifts include a Fine Art Silkscreen Print of the Lotus 72D Grand Prix racer. Amalgam partnered with renowned artist Alan Thornton, who used hand-pulled screen printing to create the striking silkscreen print. This $1,051 statement piece is a fitting tribute to the car that Emerson Fittipaldi once piloted to victory.

If you're looking for something less extravagant, the $230 Formula 1 Concept 2022 Sculpture will be more to your liking. Said to capture the new F1 aero regulations, the compact sculpture is hand cast and plated in aluminum.

But if you've got deep pockets and you're looking to treat yourself, Amalgam has several brilliant gift ideas. At $4,251, the Ferrari Monza SP1/SP2 Limited Edition Book isn't cheap. Like the car it celebrates, the book is limited to 499 copies and takes readers on the journey of the SP1 and SP2. As you'd expect, it boasts a carbon fiber spine, an Alcantara-lined aluminum case, and a spine finished in the same leather used for some SP1/SP2 interior details.

In celebration of one of the finest engines ever made, Amalgam has released a 1:4 scale of the W16 engine and gearbox found in the Bugatti Chiron. Just 99 examples will be made at $15,058 a piece, and Amalgam notes the highly detailed replica has every single detail you'd find on an actual Chiron engine, including the parts labels and barcodes.

The ultimate gift idea, however, has to be Amalgam's Bespoke service. Starting from $12,000, experts will lovingly recreate your pride and joy by replicating every aspect of your vehicle, from the paint to the interior finishes. If, for example, you've taken delivery of a brand new Aston Martin DB11, the company will work closely with the brand to ensure the model is a perfect representation of the car in your garage.

Buyers can opt to have their vehicle reproduced in 1:8 scale or larger. This would make a great garage display, especially for the discerning collector with plenty of cash to spare.

All these items, whether big or small, would make for a wonderful gift come Christmas morning. With any luck, you may find one in your stocking.
