The Porsche 918 stunned the world when it was first brought to the race track where, in front of the whole world, it crushed the Bugatti Veyron's record of fastest production car to hit 60 mph from standstill. Using all wheel drive and a hybrid drivetrain, it managed to do 0-60 mph in only 2.2 seconds. But to this team of students, that number may as well be a lifetime. That's because the students of ETH Zurich and Hochschule Luzern in Sweden have just built an electric car that manages the same feat in 1.513 seconds.

In the video, they try to put that time into context, but the real action starts at around 2:15 in.

Unsurprisingly, this neck-snapping time earned them the world record for fastest acceleration from 0-100 kph in the world.
