The past few years have been difficult for many industries, particularly automotive. A well-oiled supply chain is essential as millions of new vehicles require critical parts in order to complete the final assembly. In many cases, individual parts have not been available and the latest example involves the 2022 Chevy Corvette Stingray and its 5ZZ Carbon Flash Metallic High Wing.

A member of the Corvette Forum claims they were recently informed by their dealer that the High Wing rear spoiler they ordered remains on backorder.

CarBuzz reached out to Chevy seeking clarification and was told by senior communication manager Trevor Thompkins that the $995 MSRP High Wings in Carbon Metallic are no longer available.

"There are some body colors but it's only the painted carbon flash color [that have run out]," Thompkins told us. "We are at this point taking orders at level 3,000 (3,000 means it's been sequenced into the plant). If you're at level 3,000 on your order data then you should be good to go. We're not taking new orders beyond this point."

We can further confirm there are some body-colored high wings still available, meaning supply issues are only limited to the Carbon Flash Metallic color only. It remains unconfirmed whether the Carbon Flash Metallic High Wing will be available again at a later date.

Other sources are claiming that the wing's vendor is leaving the business in the very near future. If this is true, then the automaker will either need to find a new supplier or drop the feature entirely. We doubt the latter will happen.

Anyone who has a 2022 C8 Stingray on order and checked the box for the High Wing option in this particular color will probably want to check with their dealership to see if their build is affected or not. If so, they could either select an available color, switch to the low profile spoiler (pictured here on both the coupe and convertible), wait until the wing/color combo becomes available, or investigate what the aftermarket has to offer.
