HWA AG will add its legendary motorsport know-how to the upcoming Apollo IE.
The IE (Intensa Emozione) is the upcoming GT1-inspired hypercar by Apollo Automobil, creators of the Gumpert Apollo supercar. That particular car may not have been the prettiest thing on the roads but it still holds the 9th fastest Nurburgring lap time for a road-legal production vehicle. The latest hypercar project incorporates all that they learned from that endeavor and now the announcement that HWA AG will be partnering with Apollo in the final dynamic development of the IE is sure to yield even more spectacular results.
HW AG was founded in 1998 as an offshoot of AMG. The German motorsports company has experience in FIA GT1 race and road car development, having been responsible for the Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR. It is also the most successful team ever to have taken part in DTM. Apollo Automobil will now have access to HWA's globally renowned engineering expertise, technologies and world-class facilities. Apollo Chairman, Norman Choi said that this strategic technical partnership will allow them to stay true to their original philosophy to pay homage to the old GT1 days.
A mere ten examples of the Intensa Emozione will be built. With a curb weight of only 2,755 lb and 780-hp on tap from its 6.3-liter V12 engine, the IE is sure to produce some stunning acceleration figures and lap times. "We are extremely proud to announce this partnership. We feel honored to be working with Apollo and confident that they have a bright future ahead, along with HWA." said Ulrich Fritz, CEO at HWA. Deliveries of the first cars are scheduled to begin in 2019.
