Rumors about the M2 version of the newly introduced BMW 2-Series have been circulating for quite some. But now, it seems to finally be official: the M2 will enter production in fall 2015, meeting its first customers towards the end of the year or in early 2016. According to Bimmer Post, sources deep within the company say the car will feature a turbocharged version of the N55 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, and should produce between 365 and 375 horsepower.

Code-named pyrat2 or F87, the 2016 M2 will outshine the M235i by about 50 horsepower, keeping approximately the same distance from its bigger and more expensive brother, the BMW M4. Pricing and specification have yet to be released, but we expect its base price to come in somewhere around $55,000.
