Are These New Replica Shelby Mustangs An Abomination Or Just Plain Cool?

Don't worry. They still go fast!

Classic Recreations is a manufacturer based in Oklahoma that specializes in building continuation examples of the original Shelby Mustangs. It essentially create replicas of the originals that are fully licensed by Shelby. These replica models typically feature a Coyote or Windsor V8 engine with anywhere from 400 to 1,000 horsepower. Now, though, Classic Recreations is getting in tune with the times and offering Shelby Mustangs with turbocharged EcoBoost engines.

The GT350CR models will now be available with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 producing 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. This is the same engine as the current F-150 and Expedition, but it can be tuned to over 600 horsepower to emulate the engine in the new Ford GT. The Chinese market will also be able to purchase a 2.0-liter four-cylinder from the Focus ST making over 300 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque. Classic car collectors may scoff at the idea of an EcoBoost classic Shelby, but with turbocharging becoming the norm even on high-priced supercars like the Ford GT, Classic Recreations might be on to something. Pricing on the new turbo models has yet to be announced.
