The 2.4-liter unit has been turbocharged. God help us.
The latest iteration of everyone’s favorite insane track toy has arrived, delivering even more performance from an already extreme car. Dubbed the Atom 3S, it comes packing the 2.4-liter Honda engine from the latest third-gen model, albeit turbocharged to deliver 365 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. That makes it the most powerful Atom after the batshit crazy 500-hp V8 variant. Performance is typically impressive, with 0-60 mph quoted at 2.8 seconds and the quarter-mile in 10.7.
Presented by Ariel and TMI AutoTech, North America’s exclusive manufacturer, the 3S receives a cockpit-adjustable five-stage traction control system, 4-piston brake calipers all round, and adjustable dampers for the F1-style pushrod suspension.
Three transmission options include standard, close ratio and a new Sadev- six-speed sequential gearbox offering “ultra-quick shifting through steering column mounted paddles.” The Atom 3S also boasts a full glass windscreen and full LCD display. It comes priced at $89,750, but if that’s too steep the Atom 3 can be yours for $64,500.
