Ariel's off road version of the Atom, the Nomad, looks like more fun than we can handle.
The Ariel Nomad, the insane off-road capable cousin to the Ariel Atom, offers what is probably the most fun you can have in a car with your clothes on. Well, you could drive it naked but we wouldn't advise it, a sand blasted sausage will not be easy to explain to a doctor. The street-legal buggy is at home on dirt, but on tar where traction is optimal, the little demon can do 0-60 in just 3.4 seconds thanks to 2.4-liter Honda motor kicking out 235 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. On gravel that equates to a large trailing sandstorm.
Since the Nomad arrived in the US, it's been the choice of hooligans and adrenaline junkies, which makes for great videos, like this one from eGarage. The eGarage guys wanted to film the Nomad, driven by Leh Keen, and so a collaboration with Abandon Visuals was set in motion.
They chose Fox Creek Ranch in Northern California as the location, complete with a cowboy on a horse, and drove the nuts and bolts off the Nomad. They were also testing out a new camera rig, the Black Arm, which it seems does a bang up job. It looks like an epic day's filming and if cards were played right, the expenses could possibly be written off under "research". We'd also like to research things like this. All. Day. Long.
