Armored Cadillac XT6 Is The World's Safest Crossover

And it's not as expensive as you might think.

AddArmor specializes in armor protection packages for regular cars and trucks for owners who want an extra level of protection against threats. In the past, the company has built a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade and even turned the Audi RS7 into the world's fastest armored car. Now, AddArmor has unveiled its latest creation: an armored 2020 Cadillac XT6, which the company bills as the "world's safest crossover utility vehicle."

Installing AddArmor's anti-intrusion package replaces the SUV's factory-installed windows with bullet-proof and shatterproof ballistic glass. To offer further protection from unwanted threats, custom ballistic protection panels are fitted inside each door and hatch.

These panels are made of lightweight synthetic laminate materials, which AddArmor claims are 60 percent lighter and ten times stronger than ballistic steel. They also seamlessly blend with the Cadillac XT6's styling without adding much extra weight. Note, images shown are of the regular XT6.

Like the regular model, AddArmor's Cadillac XT6 features a 3.6-liter V6 engine producing 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. In addition to the armor protection, the XT6's safety systems include a front pedestrian braking system, a night vision mode, a lane departure warning system, and forward, rear, and blind-spot collision alerts. AddArmor's new XT6 also features run-flat tires that can be used for up to 50 miles after being damaged.

Pricing for AddArmor's Cadillac XT6 anti-intrusion package starts at $28,000, but some of the options can be changed. Factoring in the XT6's base price, you can now buy an armored Cadillac XT6 for around $80,000.
