007's cars are as important to MI6's most illustrious secret agent as the Batmobile is to the Caped Crusader. And of all his Q-tuned vehicles, the Aston Martin DB5 is arguably the most famous. First seen in "Goldfinger" back in 1964, the DB5 subsequently appeared in "Thunderball", "GoldenEye", "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "Casino Royale". In February we learned the classic GT would be returning to the big screen for the latest Bond installment "Skyfall".

In this latest promo video we learn more about the importance of the car to the film's creators, including Director Sam Mendes, as well as seeing it speeding across the countryside during filming in Glencoe, Scotland.

So what makes the Bond DB5 so appealing? Put simply it's the combination of classic good looks with gadgets and weaponry such as a passenger ejector seat, twin machine guns, rocket launchers, oil slick sprayer and bulletproof shield. This Aston Martin DB5 won't be the exact model that Sean Connery drove in "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball" as the original movie car sold at auction for a whopping $4.1 million back in 2010. The new movie car will, however, wear the same BMT 216A number plate it wore in "Goldfinger" as a nod to the original... and maybe to help 007 find it in the car park after one too many martinis.

Professional racing driver and Ben "Stig" Collins (of former Top Gear fame) serves as Daniel Craig's stunt driver, a role he has done twice before in "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace". The Bond franchise will celebrate its 50th anniversary with "Skyfall" starring Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Judie Dench and Ralph Fiennes. The movie is set to be released in the UK on 26 October and in the US on 9 November.
