Aston Martin is best known for its high-performance supercars and luxury grand tourers. Recently, however, the automaker has explored different vehicle types. The Aston Martin DBX represents the automaker's first-ever SUV, and the carmaker also recently teamed up with Brough Superior to design the AMB 001 motorcycle. Now, Aston Martin is collaborating with the aviation industry. Following last month's teaser, the British carmaker has unveiled the ACH130 Aston Martin Edition, a new helicopter built in collaboration with Airbus Corporate Helicopters.

This special edition of the Airbus ACH130 helicopter can be equipped with one of four interior and exterior designs by Aston Martin inspired by the company's sports cars. Aston Martin's signature design elements can be seen throughout including the iconic Aston Martin wings, which are embossed onto luxury leather features inside the cabin.

The Stirling Green-themed exterior features a painted gradient that fades down into Jet Black on the underside of the helicopter with Skyfall Silver around the cowlings. Other liveries are available with Aston Martin paint colors including Xenon Grey, Arizona or Ultramarine Black exteriors.

Inside, the automotive-inspired cabin is trimmed in Pure Black ultra-suede with a choice of leathers including Oxford Tan, Pure Black, Cormorant and Ivory. Passengers may also recognize the brogue detailing from the Aston Martin DB11 on the rear of the front seats, which runs down the center of the seat. The doors are also trimmed with leather to provide customers with comfortable touch points.

Each special edition helicopter will have a plaque on the instrument panel displaying the partnership logos, the edition number and the owner's name if requested. Deliveries for the ACH130 Aston Martin Edition will begin in Q1 2020.

"We have our own set of automotive design principles but in recent years we have been learning how to apply our principles to other areas of design, such as architecture, motorcycles and now helicopters," said Aston Martin Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman. "This first application of our design practices to a helicopter posed a number of interesting challenges but we have enjoyed working through them.

"Beauty is of vital importance to Aston Martin and to our customers and we think the ACH130 Aston Martin Edition is an inherently beautiful machine. It provided a wonderful canvas for our team to work on so we now look forward to seeing everybody's reaction."

Frederic Lemos, Head of Airbus Corporate Helicopters, added: "The ACH130 Aston Martin Edition is optimally positioned in the market for hands-on owners who draw satisfaction from personally piloting their aircraft and it generates strong brand-loyalty. In the same way Aston Martin's products are cars for drivers who relish being at the wheel and they inspire a comparable attachment to the brand. So they are the perfect partner for us in developing this superb new ACH130 Aston Martin Edition."
