Aston Martin has signed a sponsorship deal with German team 1860 Munich.
Aston Martin has slide tackled into the world of German football with a sponsorship of 2.Bundesliga team TSV 1860 Munich. The second-tier club has endured some financial difficulty as of late and needed an investment of 8 million Euros to stay afloat in 2011. Help was provided by Jordanian investor Hasan Abdullah Ismaik who purchased roughly 60 percent of the German club.
A lucrative sponsorship with British automaker Aston Martin has also helped to raise the club's profile as they try to ascend back to the first tier of German soccer. The mutually-beneficial relationship will see funds flow into 1860 Munich while Aston Martin will be seen all around Bavaria. The Brits are constantly competing with German brands such as Audi, Porsche and BMW, and sponsoring a soccer team in a 'football' mad country like Germany could help push them over the edge. Aston Martin logos will appear all around their stadium and even adorn the team's jerseys, accompanying 1860 Munich's logo, a fierce looking lion.
On a side note, the German club also has an American on their roster, Bobby Wood. So for those that care about the 'beautiful game,' you can get a great USA chant going and drink some German be... juice when you watch 1860 play in the currently underway 2.Bundesliga season.
