2021 marks the start of an exciting new era for Aston Martin. For the first time in over 60 years, the British automaker is returning to Formula One racing, as the Racing Point F1 team owned by Lawrence Stroll will be rebranded as Aston Martin. In a new teaser video, Aston Martin has previewed the team's racing colors.

Like the Aston Martin Vantage AMR, the team's Formula One car will sport a familiar British Racing Green racing livery with yellow accents. In February, Aston Martin will present its new 2021 Formula One manufacturer car and livery, which will also be revealed by four-time champion Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll, the billionaire owner's son.

"Formula 1 is a hugely powerful platform that will play a key part in the overall Aston Martin strategy as we seek to take the company forward. It is a truly global sport with a huge audience that we believe can help reignite the brand and further increase its desirability all over the world," said Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman at Aston Martin.

"This is a brand that has already had huge success in top-level international motorsport such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans - and now we have an opportunity to write a new page in the history books. That's a hugely exciting prospect for anyone who is a lover of the Aston Martin brand, for fans of Formula 1 and the sport itself."

Aston Martin's new F1 racing team was originally going to make its competition debut in Melbourne, Australia, on March 21, 2021, with two cars on the grid, but the Australian Grand Prix will reportedly be postponed until later this year due to quarantine restrictions in Melbourne.

Reports claim the 2021 championship will open with the Bahrain Grand Prix instead, but the FIA hasn't made an official announcement at the time of writing. Returning to F1 will certainly help increase Aston Martin's brand awareness considering the motorsport is watched by millions worldwide.

While Aston Martin will be returning to the F1 grid this year, the automaker will be retiring from the World Endurance Championship in 2021 after achieving multiple class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
