Aston Martin Teases Posh Interior Of DB11 Successor

Video / 4 Comments

From the materials to the integration of technology, this cabin looks like a palpable step up from the DB11.

Aston Martin has shared a series of short video teasers for its next car, presumed to be called the DB12 based on an earlier trademark filing, and effectively a replacement for the DB11. Set to be fully revealed on May 24, these are likely the last few teasers before we see the new car in all its glory.

Although it appears to be another high-end grand tourer in Aston Martin tradition, the company has positioned this as something even grander, with these new teasers showcasing all the ways that the car is supposedly better than previous models, both inside and out.

In one teaser, we have a clearer look at some of the interior details, such as the start/stop button and surrounding physical controls. A shot of the door panel suggests that interior finishes will be exemplary, with a lovely tan hue featuring white contrast stitching. Leather, Alcantara, and carbon fiber seem to be some of the chosen interior materials.

The same tan color has been used for the new steering wheel, while a digital gauge cluster with a simple tachometer can also be seen. As was clear from a previous teaser of the interior, Aston seems to have replaced the outdated COMAND interface that was sourced from Mercedes and adopted new software for its infotainment system. This could be based on newer MBUX software or Aston's own in-house system, but in either case, it should be easier to operate than before.

Another shot shows a sporty seat design in a mix of leather and a suede-like material, along with an integrated headrest and cutouts in the backrest. We assume that these will be one of several available seat designs for the DB12.

Elsewhere, we can see a glimpse of a polished, chrome tailpipe and an intricate bronze wheel design that looks fantastic with the green paint. The DB12 (remember, we're calling it that for now until the name is confirmed) is finished in an attractive shade of green, and we also get a look at the vented hood and the slim outline of the one taillight cluster.

No technical information was shared in these teasers, so we assume the car will use the AMG-sourced turbocharged V8 and possibly a V12. Outputs could exceed those of the DB11, but we'll have to wait for later this week to confirm this and other details about this new Aston Martin.

It's going to be an exceptionally busy 24 months for the British automaker, with eight cars being revealed, including the GT teased here.
