Towards the end of 2019, Aston Martin showed off the fruits of its collaboration with Brough Superior, a new motorcycle called the AMB 001. Much like the recently-revealed 2021 Aston Martin V12 Speedster, the AMB 001 will offer a roofless experience to only a few select buyers. The AMB 001 will be limited to just 100 units with deliveries scheduled to begin at the end of 2020. Aston Martin is currently testing the bike, wrapped in a camo livery, at the Pau-Arnos racetrack in France.

"Everybody involved has managed to make tremendous progress with the development of AMB 001, despite the challenges we have all been facing," said Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman. "This special motorcycle is, like our road cars, the result of beautiful design melding with modern technology to produce a bike that any collector will be proud of. We are delighted to see how much progress has been made, both on and off track, and look forward to the moment when production starts for this stunning machine."

This prototype testing will allow engineers to finalize the chassis geometry, ergonomics, and dynamic behavior. Brough Superior's test riders will be evaluating the bike to test its cornering, braking, and acceleration. Final testing for the engine will also be conducted in parallel to the chassis development.

The AMB 001 is powered by a unique turbocharged and intercooled V-twin producing a whopping 180 horsepower. Aston Martin and Brough Superior haven't quoted any performance figures yet but we expect this to be a pretty fast bike.

"One of the key design features of the AMB 001 is an aluminum fin that runs along the full length of a carbon fiber tank, passing under the saddle and out onto the rear," said Brough Superior CEO, Thierry Henriette. "The body holding the fin and supporting the saddle is one of the areas where we called on the unique knowledge of Mecano ID, who joined the project to apply specialist aerospace-quality carbon fiber skills to the exclusive AMB 001."

Once this testing is complete, the AMB 001 will go into production at Brough Superior's factory in Toulouse, France. Each bike will cost 108,000 euros plus a 20 percent VAT, which translates to around $121,000 at current exchange rates.
