The new model has finally been named with initial pictures and information released.

First we caught the car final testing at the 'Ring, then we discovered it would be officially revealed tomorrow, and now we have first images and details of Aston Martin's new model we can finally confirm will be called the AM310 Vanquish. Built to celebrate the marque's centenary next year, a concept version of which was recently rolled out at the 2012 Concorso d'Eleganza in Italy, the AM310 Vanquish will become Aston Martin's flagship model as all One-77 models are now sold out and sales of the DBS are coming to end.

Forward-looking styling cues including the elegant new waist, LED rear light blades and elongated side strakes are derived from the £1.2m One-77, while reviving the Vanquish name hints at the past. The new Aston Martin, featuring the next-gen of the VH architecture, boasts a new passive engineering feature in the form of a new Aero Duct on the rear boot lid that counteracts lift at the rear when travelling at speed. Power comes from a heavily revised naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 gasoline unit mated to the Touchtronic 2 six-speed automatic transmission, generating 565hp and 457lb-ft of torque.

Performance is rated a 4.1 seconds for 0-62mph and a top speed of 183mph. "Bearing the same name as the iconic AM V12 Vanquish that did so much to cement Aston Martin's reputation as a maker of great GT cars in the modern era, I believe the car unveiled today once again puts this great British brand at the top of its class," said Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez. "The new AM 310 Vanquish mixes beautiful design with impressive technology such as the superb new infotainment system. This is the latest incarnation of everything we know, informed and developed from One-77.
