Vantage Roadster

It's going to be a very busy 24 months for Aston Martin with eight new cars set to be launched, but the British manufacturer is also focused on improving its current lineup, as evidenced by these new spy photos of a facelifted Vantage Roadster.

While not dramatically different, we can see that the Vantage Roadster sports a new, taller grille than the current one. However, the grille doesn't seem as broad as before, although Aston could be concealing its true width with the camo wrap. It also looks as though the headlights, hood, and front bumper have been restyled; the hood itself has two vents, and the headlights appear to be more vertical than the current horizontal slits.

Further back, we can spot smaller rearview mirrors, potentially contributing to improved aerodynamics. From the back, the updated Vantage Roadster's changes are harder to see, with a familiar lighting strip and an elaborate bumper/diffuser treatment lower down. The quad tailpipes are also still there, although this prototype's pipes clearly have an incomplete finish.

While no interior images were captured, we can see that attempts were made to conceal the dash, leading us to believe that there are changes inside as well. That wouldn't be a surprise since the Vantage's in-cabin technology has fallen behind the best, while some of its materials are disappointing for the price.

We drove the 2023 Vantage Roadster recently and found the Mercedes COMAND-based interface it still uses is hopelessly outdated. Apple CarPlay doesn't work as well as in the new DBX, and the small screen is all but impossible to see when the sun shines on it. We had no complaints with our test car's 4.0-liter AMG-sourced V8, though, with this 503-horsepower mill eliciting an aggressive roar. We also liked the car's communicative steering.

We can only imagine what the V12 Vantage Roadster may be like to drive, but only 249 examples were made available, and all were sold before the car even launched.

It's not known if the facelifted Vantage Roadster will get engine or suspension updates, but we hope it receives an updated infotainment system, as this alone will make a very desirable drop-top even better.
