Having revealed the finalists last month, we can now bring you the winners of the 2014 World Car of the Year Awards. The all-important World Car of the Year was presented to the brand-new Audi A3, which fought off competition from the Mazda3 and BMW 4 Series. A panel of 69 automotive journalists selected the car for its "silky smooth ride, superb choice of engines, and four body styles."

Audi Chairman Rupert Stadler said of the award: "The Audi A6 was the first ever winner of this award and we are delighted that the Audi A3 has repeated that achievement by being voted 2014 World Car of the Year. The Audi A3 showcases Audi's technical competence in all aspects of carmaking, not least in the areas of lightweight technology, drivetrain, mobile infotainment and driver assistance systems." Other winners include the Mercedes S-Class voted the World Luxury Car of the Year, the Porsche 911 GT3 that took the World Performance Car of the Year, and the BMW i3 that one both the World Car Design and Green Car of the Year awards.
