CarBuzz photographers have been hard at work in Europe snapping up these images of the upcoming Audi A4 Avant (station wagon), with this prototype wearing less camouflage than prior test units we spotted in the snow. Thanks to these new images, we're getting our first look at the production A4's headlights and taillights, as well as an impression of what the revised front bumper will look like. This appears to be getting only subtle refinements to the shape of its intake grilles.

The new center grille design is also evident, with this gaining the same style of mesh that we spotted on the upcoming Q8 facelift.

At the rear of the car, we suspect that the bumper will be lightly massaged to give it a slightly more edgy design that better fits with the angular taillights. Expect a large section in the middle of the rear bumper to house a false diffuser panel, likely something similar to the sort of trim piece that adds some aggression to the 8Y Audi A3 hatch and sedan.

The wheels on this test car are nothing to write home about, but they do appear to be suitable for production cars, unlike the nasty black rims we spotted a year ago.

Our photographers recently caught the warmed-up S4 testing in the snow, which suggests that both the regular A4 and the S4 will be launched around the same time. Sightings of a new RS4 are also sure to follow, but we suspect this will be launched later. Either way, we do not expect to get the high-performance A4 variants on US soil. Most recently, we have only had access to the lifted allroad version.

As for the A4 sedan, the rumor mill claims that this derivative will be dropped, with the A5 Sportback likely to fill that niche. Whatever the plans are for the A4, a reveal is expected later in the year.
