Audi have unveiled a new diesel engine for the A1: a 2.0-liter TDI unit providing 141hp and 236lb-ft of torque, (a significant increase on the alternate diesel 1.6 TDI that produces 103hp and 136lb-ft.) The new 2.0 diesel shifts from 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds, a 2.3-second improvement on the 1.6, and can hit 135mph, up from 118mph. There are also two new A1 special editions: the Contrast and Black Editions.

Available on all variants, save the 182hp 1.4 TFSI, the Contrast Edition features contrasting color for the roof line, bi-color 17-inch alloys and an aerodynamic body kit. Audi are asking for an £1,350 over the cost of an equivalent A1 Sport for this special edition. The 1.4 TFSI doesn't miss out on a special package as the Black Edition is exclusively available for the petrol engine and the new 2.0-liter TDI diesel. Based on the S line package, it includes a black styling treatment for the single-frame grille surround and license plate holder, tinted windows, Xenon Plus headlights with LED daytimers, and 18-inch titanium-colored alloys.

Included in the package is an Audi Sound System speaker upgrade and full electronic climate control. A £1,110 premium will be required over similar A1 S lines for this set of options.
