They started with the gargantuan Q7 and having realized that good things come in small packages, shrunk their SUV range first with the Q5 and then by the even smaller Q3, which was recently confirmed for the North American market. Now Audi are rumored to be considering a Q1 and according to reports it will be based on the A1's platform that was recently expanded to include a five-door version and AWD. An A1 Cabriolet is not in the offering however, as it would sit too close to the A3 Cabriolet.

It's hard to get too excited by the announcement however, as the word on the cyber street is that it could be some time, i.e. a few years, before the baby premium crossover makes it to market. According to an Audi insider that spoke with What Car: "You've seen how our SUVs have been getting smaller - Q7, Q5, Q3 - and the A1 platform could go in that direction, but nothing is planned for the near future."
