Electricity has never looked meaner.
Since arriving as the company's flagship electric model, the 2020 Audi e-tron lineup has expanded first with the 2020 Audi e-tron Sportback and most recently with more powerful e-tron S models. While the e-tron S and e-tron S Sportback look far more aggressive than their base counterparts, Audi may soon add some new appearance packages that look more aggressive without adding additional performance.
In Europe, Audi has just announced updates to both the 2021 e-tron and e-tron Sportback. Customers will now have a choice of S line, Launch Edition, and new Black Edition and Vorsprung trim levels for the standard e-tron and Sportback respectively. Audi hasn't confirmed if these new trim packages will be available in the United States but based on how cool the Black Edition (pictured below) looks, we hope it is offered.
The Black Edition is based on the S Line and adds anthracite black wheels along with front and rear bumper inserts, window trims, roof rails, and door mirror surrounds, all of which are finished in black. Inside, Valcona leather seats combine with synthetic leather on the upper dashboard, armrests, and center console as part of the Extended Twin Leather Package. Opting for the new flagship e-tron Vorsprung model adds 22-inch alloy wheels from Audi Sport plus matt-finish Titanium Orange brake calipers.
There are other changes to the e-tron as well, such as Digital Matrix LED lighting on the Vorsprung and updates to the MIB 3 infotainment system. Since these changes have only been announced for Europe, we will need to wait to see if they will make their way stateside. The more powerful S versions of the e-tron and e-tron Sportback have not been confirmed for the US either, so perhaps these changes to the regular variants will be made alongside the US-specific announcement in a 2021 model year update.
