If you're an avid Avengers fan, you should be used to seeing Audi product placement in Marvel movies over the last ten years. Last year's Spider-Man: Homecoming featured the new A8 and TT, and Tony Stark famously drove the R8 in the first Iron Man film and the Prologue concept in Captain America: Civil War.

The next Avengers film, currently known as 'Avengers 4' and one of 2019's most anticipated big-budget blockbusters, will be no different, as the fully electric Audi e-tron GT concept will feature in the film after recently making its world debut at the 2018 LA Auto Show.

Audi hasn't said what role the e-tron GT will play in the film, but there's a good chance we'll see Tony Stark behind the wheel of Audi's flagship electric sedan during some intense automotive action scenes. Because Tony Stark gets to drive the coolest cars in the Marvel movies.

The R8's appearance in Iron Man was a pivotal advertisement for the then-unknown supercar, so the e-tron GT's appearance in another major blockbuster film is arguably just as significant as it will help preview Audi's foray into electric cars to a massive global audience. We'll get to see the Audi e-tron GT in action on the big screen when Avengers 4 lands in cinemas on April 26, 2019.

Audi says the e-tron GT Concept will begin production in 2020. The concept packs a 90 kWh battery that delivers a range of 250 miles, while a pair of electric motors produces a combined output of 590 horsepower. That's enough to enable the Tesla fighter to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and 0-124 mph in 12 seconds before hitting a top speed of 149 mph.

Incidentally, this isn't the only film an electric Audi concept will appear in next year, as a character voiced by Will Smith will be driving a futuristic Audi RSQ E-Tron in the upcoming animated film Spies in Disguise, which could preview the design of the R8's future electric successor.
