Audi unleashed the wonderfully insane S1 Hoonitron last December with Ken Block behind the wheel.

Block, who left Ford for Audi over a year ago, drove the S1 Hoonitron EV for his latest gymkhana video, which, to date, has been viewed more than 4.5 million times in just three weeks.

And now Audi has released a new video starring Block talking about the EV, inspired by the legendary Audi Sport quattro S1. Block discusses how he and the German automaker worked together to create this one-off EV from scratch. Because of this, Block was able to have a direct role in the car's mighty impressive specifications.

There's a 52:48 front/rear weight distribution and a wheelbase shorter than the overseas-only A1 Sportback. The logic was to increase agility when cornering, a much-needed capability for Electrikhana stunts.

The suspension utilizes McPherson struts on both front and rear axles with over 7.88 inches of spring travel to aid in crazy feats like jumping crests.

Hey, it's Ken Block, and what Ken Block wants, Ken Block gets. Those axles, which weigh just 121 pounds each (including the transmission), are powered by motorsport-derived motor-generator units.

The drivetrain system has four high-voltage batteries from an Audi PHEV model, such as the Q5 PHEV. Each has a capacity of 14.4 kWh for a total of 57.6 kWh operating at 800 volts.

Audi further points out that distribution between the front and rear axles is variable and can be adapted to different driving styles. All told, the S1 Hoonitron develops 671 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque.

Along with the incredible technical details and specs, the video gives a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the Las Vegas spectacle showing more details about the editing, location, and plenty of fantastic footage of the S1 Hoonitron in action.
