We're only days away from the reveal of the all-new Audi R8. But now we're learning from a new Top Gear report that Audi has some big plans for the new R8, most of which are awesome. However, there's one potential version many supercar enthusiasts won't like. During a preview event in Spain, the new R8's technical lead, Roland Schala, told Top Gear that "the production line for this new car is so flexible, so there's no problem to change it, to bring different models like a Superleggera, or GT, or Clubsport variants."

N/A

That's the good news. On top of that Audi will "definitely need engines that sit below the V10 over the life cycle…the V6 is a perfect engine for this kind of car. We have a lot of potential with the V6, from 400 hp upwards, so it's possible." A naturally aspirated V8 variant is expected to arrive in the near future as well, and an R8 diesel is also under consideration. But a V6 R8? Just look at what Acura did with its new NSX and its hybrid-V6 powertrain. Audi has clearly taken note.
