Audi R8 Facelift Redefines the Term ‘Leaked’

A single leaked photo has emerged from Audi that could bear the front-end of the R8's new facelift.

We just caught a photo circulating around the 'net of what we believe is the new front-end for the 2013 Audi R8. The German company from Ingolstadt is in the earliest stages of development on their R8 facelift and this leaked picture reveals quite a bit about what the new model will look like. The front-end of the supercar in this mockup has some futuristic LED headlights, a revised grille and larger air intakes.

The grille is exceptionally different, as it has a hexagonal look with a hole-style mesh texture. Reports have come in earlier this year that the new R8 will be equipped with a 4.2-liter V8 that can put out 444hp. A more powerful 5.2-liter V10 will also be available with an output of 533hp. The current R-tronic transmission will be sent to the dump, as a new seven-speed S-tronic gearbox is set to take its place. Audi's R8 supercar will get its facelift on the 2013 model and will launch next year. Photos courtesy of Fourtitude.
