Audi R8 Spyder by B&B

Tuning

It didn’t take long for the first R8 tuning job of 2013 to rear its head.

As one of the most popular cars for tuning houses in 2012, it's no surprise to see the New Year start with an Audi R8 5.2 aftermarket program, and the first of the year comes courtesy of B&B Automobiletechnik. Two different upgrade packages are on offer for the V10 engine. The first ups output to 610 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, and the second goes even further with output rated at 628 hp and 431 lb-ft. B&B managed this increase by fitting a special racing exhaust system, a carbon air filter and a remapped ECU.

The result is a 0-62 mph sprint time of 3.5 seconds, down from 4.0, a 0-124 mph time of 10.8 seconds and a top speed of 204 mph, up from 197. B&B also offers a sport suspension package, lowering the supercar by 20mm at the front and 25mm at the rear, a set of 19- or 20-inch rims, ceramic high-performance brakes, and a remapped R-Tronic gear shift that makes for quicker gear changes than the upmarket R8 GT.
