Lately it's been a trend to match up two of the most outlandish albeit closely matched cars possible in some sort of competition in order to see which one comes up the winner. Think Bentley Bentayga versus a Ford Focus RS or an Audi RS6 Performance versus an Audi R8. The results are usually predictable with the exception of a few outlying cars, but even those cases are proof that unlimited horsepower and a clever computer running the traction control makes for a good car.

But what happened to the conventional races? Thankfully, Auto Express felt the same way because the motoring YouTube channel has just gotten two incredibly similar cars together for a good old fashioned drag race. In fact, the two cars are so similar that the only thing separating them is the word "Plus" on the badge.

Well, that and 69 horsepower. Yep, we're talking about the Audi R8 V10 and R8 V10 Plus. Even though the two might not be so different mechanically, Audi thinks they are different enough that it can get away with charging an extra $26,000 for the package. That's an entire Nissan Sentra Nismo or even a Ford Focus ST. Even for that sum of cash, the V10 Plus doesn't really get over the finish line too much faster than its less powerful sibling. But hey, this is the realm of supercars where something as little as a brake disk can cost $9,000.
