World’s first production vehicle with this awesome light technology.
Audi has just become the first automaker to offer laserheadlights on a production vehicle, with the special edition R8 LMX.The lights are said to dramatically increase night vision abilities,while offering an awesome look and the novelty of a brand-new technology. TheLMX goes on sale this summer, and will be limited to 99 units, costing210,000 euros a pop in Germany. The special edition will be offered in Ara Bluecrystal-effect paint, featuring a black interior with blue diamond-patterninserts.
The LMX also gains a special edition carbon-fiber spoiler,front lip, side strakes, rear diffuser and black high-gloss tailpipes. It willbe powered by Audi’s 5.2-liter V10 engine, making 570 horsepower and 398 lb-ftof torque. Power will be sent to all wheels via a seven-speed S-tronictransmission, and brakes will be fitted with red anodized calipers. Audi says the single laser module in each headlight can generate light that reachestwice as far as an all-LED headlight, a technology sourced from racingapplications and set to debut at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.
