Audi USA has unveiled official photos of the new e-tron Spyder.
Audi USA has just released several photos on Facebook of their new e-tron Spyder. Compared to previous concepts, this is a fully functioning car. It's powered by a 3.0-liter mid-mounted twin turbocharged TDI diesel with 296hp and 478lb-ft of torque. The rear-wheel drive roadster also features electric motors at the front wheels that produce 86hp and 260lb-ft of torque. Technically, the front and rear wheels work together as well as independently when in all-wheel drive mode.
With the combined power from the diesel and the electric motors, the e-tron produces 382hp and 739lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0 to 60mph in 4.4 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. According to the German automaker, "It took a team of Audi designers, technicians and modelers just months to create the e-tron Spyder show car for its Paris Motor Show debut (back in 2010). Now, roughly one year later, it's on the road in sunny Southern California. The future of e-mobility has arrived." Expect to see much more of the new e-tron Spyder in the coming months as official test drives aren't too far off.
