Audi's lust for cinematic product placement continues with the upcoming animated movie Spies in Disguise that stars the voices of Will Smith and Tom Holland. To us, the most memorable of Hollywood Audis are the from iRobot, which also starred Will Smith. Since then, though, Audi has had vehicles like the R8 and e-tron showing up in Marvel's superhero universe, but not with anything as futuristic as the mid-engined concept car from iRobot. Until now, that is.

Spies In Disguise features the first concept car by Audi created exclusively for an animated film and features just about everything people dream about from an electric car.

The concept is the electric and fully automated Audi RSQ e-tron supercar, and, through the magic of animation, the vehicle boasts a fully autonomous autopilot mode. The short film also draws attention to Audi's on-demand functions system that allows the owner to activate features after buying the car. It also shows a huge hologram style head-up display and conversational language AI system for the driver to interact with the car through.

Audi describes the RSQ e-tron as having "visionary design language," and the art it's showing off outside the animated images is seriously cool.

In the digital short, super smooth super-spy Lance Sterling and tech genius Walter Beckett find themselves in a high-speed car chase through Washington, DC. It has all the wonderful absurdity of a Fast and Furious movie, but without taking itself seriously and poking fun at the James Bond-style spy genre. If you want to check it out at the cinema, it opens on December 25, 2019.

"The action-packed super-spy storyline provides us with a creative medium to showcase innovation and technology, and all that is possible with the future of mobility," says Sven Schuwirth, Vice President Brand Audi, Digital Business and Customer Experience.
