The story started with an R8 buyer who had been told by asalesperson that the car had gotten a perfect five star rating on NCAP testing. Thingis, the car had never undergone any testing by the European New Car AssessmentProgram.
BBC reporters called ten dealers to inquire about the AudiA5 - another model that had never been tested by the organization. Nine out often reported that the A5 had been tested, six of them claiming that it had received a five-star rating. The company responded to the BBC report, stating: "AudiUK wishes to emphasise that there has not been any deliberate intent to misleadon the part of its customer-facing staff where the Euro NCAP safety testperformance of the Audi model range is concerned."
