Audi S1 is Getting Ready for Geneva

Spy Shots

Audi’s pumped-up city car is coming along very nicely indeed.

Earlier this year, Audi said the S1 would be introduced “for sure” in 2014. Carmakers’ plans can change, but thankfully that’s not the case with the hotly-anticipated pocket rocket variant of the A1, as demonstrated by these spy shots of a S1 prototype testing on public roads in Germany. Compared to the A1, we can see different shaped headlights, new LED DRLs, and newly styled taillights. The test mule spied was gasoline powered, so a 2.0-liter TFSI rated around 220-250 hp is presumably under the hood.

Coupled with the all-wheel drive system, the S1 should manage a five-second 0-62 mph time and a 155 mph top speed. Audi will offer the S1 as a three-door hatch and five-door Sportback. Debuts of the facelifted A1 and all-new S1 are expected at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
