Audi Teases Q1 Entry-Level Crossover

SUV

Audi’s SUV segment began with the Q7 and will culminate with the Q1 in 2016.

With this initial teaser image, Audi has confirmed plans to build an entry-level crossover. The German carmaker boldly claims the Q1 will be “attractive” and by the solitary image we can see it will come with five doors, sharp, angular styling, distinctive headlights, and aggressive fenders. According to previous reports, the baby SUV will be based on the VW Polo’s platform with an elevated seating position and ample ground clearance coupled with off-road styling.

Engine options are unknown, but speculation is rife of 1.4-liter TFSI and TDI units mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch, and a range-topping 230-hp 2.0-liter SQ1 model. After being rolled out in 2016, Audi will also release a hybrid variant.
