The story of this Lotus, which is currently on sale in Australia for $99,999, proves that some things can actually get better with age. What started out as a 2001 Lotus Elise was given a full body conversion later on, becoming a fully-carbon-fiber Lotus Exige. The ultra-light sports car must have been fast enough by this point, but its owner didn't think so: the Elise/Exige was given an Audi 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing a manic 550 horsepower.

The Audi-powered Lotus was also awarded with a new six-speed transmission, improved suspension, new brakes and lightweight SSR wheels. Considering the premium charged for cars down-under, the $99,999 asking price is actually quite the bargain.
