Police forces rarely get supercars to actually catch speeders with. Take Dubai's police department for example. It houses some of the greatest supercars of all time. Those vehicles are used to patrol touristy areas around the city and not for high-speed chases, as one would assume. The newest police department to add a high-powered vehicle to its lineup is the Lake Illawarra Local Area Command in New South Wales, Australia. And just like other expensive police vehicles the RS4 will be used only as a promotional tool.

According to Lake Illawarra LAC Commander Superintendent Wayne Starling, the police department intends to utilize the RS4 to "encourage people of all ages to introduce themselves to local police, using the car itself to help start up a conversation." If our local police department had an RS4, we'd definitely sign up to spend some more time with them. The RS4 is capable of getting to 62 mph in a scant 4.7 seconds thanks to a 4.2-liter V8 engine that produces 450 hp. We think the wagon is a great choice to get the community's attention. What vehicle would you like to see in your local police department's livery?
