Alfa Romeo is about to make a big comeback. Will they bring any of these concepts with them?
Alfa Romeo was intent on making a splash at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show with its modernized C 52/Disco Volante concept. The conceptual Disco Volante looks more like a "Star Wars" spacecraft than an automobile, and this could be a possible indication of the brand's future design direction. If the thought of the Disco Volante excites you, then be sure to check out all of these other awesome Alfa Romeo concepts.
Those hoping that the new Disco Volante will go into production might want to look at the 4C for encouragement. The 4C debuted at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and was green lit for production later that year. The car boasts a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine pushing 230 horsepower and a 0 to 60 time of 4.5 seconds. The best thing about the 4C (aside from everything) is that it's coming to America (eventually).
Designer Gaetan Francq has designed a futuristic Alfa meant for racin'. Francq's Spogliato concept combines future tech with a retro, 1940s design. The resulting creation is too quirky for production, but it's still worth a look nonetheless.
If the Giulia is ever reborn, there's a good chance that it will look something like this design from Dragos Prodanj. Prodanj's two-door is powered by a hybrid electric engine and can run for 30 minutes solely on electric power. A sexy two-door hybrid electric automobile sounds like the perfect way for Alfa to grab some American attention.
The year 2035 may very well be the year the Essence takes the auto world by storm. There's also a good chance that the Essence won't be available ever by then. That's a shame, as this sporty concept car would be a dream come true for street racers and accident-prone drivers with its shape memory plastic body.
