This is how America does super sedans.
It's as if it came out of nowhere. The just revealed Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is a 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, four-door beast of a thing. It is, after all, the fastest and most powerful production sedan in the world. When paired to that fast-shifting eight-speed automatic, the Charger Hellcat blasts from 0-60 mph in a blazing 3.7 seconds. Top speed is 204 mph. Screw hippies. This is what American muscle is all about.
So has the Charger Hellcat just dethroned what many considered to be the benchmark full-size super sedan, the BMW M5? That German wonder is powered by a twin-turbo V8 with 560 hp and 502 lb-ft. 0-60 happens in 4.1 seconds but top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. However, it carries a base price of $90k. The Charger Hellcat will cost you around $60k. As we'll always say: America is awesome.
