When Edgar Wright announces a new movie, it instantly attracts attention. Known for his signature frenetic filming style, he's spoofed a variety of movie genres in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Worlds End, from zombie flicks and buddy cop comedies, to sci-fi thrillers. And now he's targeting car chase heist movies with his latest film Baby Driver, starring Ansel Elgort as a getaway driver. Judging from the first trailer, Baby Driver promises to be a fun and thrilling ride with plenty of pulse pounding car action.

Being directed by Edgar Wright, Baby Driver is not your conventional heist movie. The lead character is called 'Baby,' who works as a getaway driver for Doc played by Kevin Spacey. The twist, however, is that Baby suffers from tinnitus after being in a car accident when he was a kid.

To drown out the ringing in his ears, he constantly listens to music, which plays a central role in the movie as the numerous car chase action scenes are choreographed to the eclectic soundtrack. The result is a car chase musical that looks like a cross between Drive and La La Land. Of course, it's the well-staged car chase scenes that grabbed our attention in the trailer, which should be exhilarating thanks to Edgar Wright's slick direction. We get to see a souped-up Subaru getting a serious workout while evading police, a tail-sliding Dodge Challenger and a freeway battle between two pickups culminating in one of them getting wedged under a trailer truck.

The stunt driving on display is dazzling – we wouldn't like to guess how many takes it took to pull off the reverse 180 in the alleyway. Joining Ansel Elgort and Kevin Spacey is Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm and Lily James. Baby Driver is sliding into theatres August 11 - you can safely add it to our list of most anticipated 2017 car movies alongside The Fate of the Furious and Cars 3 .
