BAC Mono Builds Ariel Atom Fighter

Briggs Automotive Group, or BAC as they prefer, are on the brink of producing the Ariel Atom fighting Mono. Like the Atom, it's a very simple, but extremely fast machine. It has a carbon fiber shell covering a single-passenger steel cell. It's powered by a Cosworth 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 208 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a Hewland six-speed sequential gearbox. With that configuration, the Mono is very similar to all non-V8-powered Atoms.

The major difference, however, is in weight. The BAC Mono weighs just 1,190 lbs, which is 160 lbs less than the Atom. BAC claims they only plan to build 35 units of the Mono, but the first 10 have already been snagged. If you're still interested, you'd better act fast and get your checkbook ready. Each one will cost $108,000 - before taxes.
