This could fetch a fortune when it goes up for auction next month.
Since its launch, dealer markups for the 2020 Toyota GR Supra have been insane. Prices for the Launch Edition officially start at $55,250, but we've seen dealers selling them for as much as $167,000. This particular Toyota Supra Launch Edition could be even more extortionate thanks to its previous owner. Heading to auction this month is a special Toyota Supra Launch Edition built especially for Hall of Fame MLB Pitcher Mariano Rivera.
Finished in Absolute Zero white, Rivera's Supra is the 42nd example out of the 1500 Launch Edition Supra and has the red Yankee number 42 printed on the doors to distinguish it.
Rivera's Launch Edition Supra includes rear-wheel drive with launch control, active rear sport differential and an active exhaust. It rides on 19-inch forged aluminum matte black wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and housing Brembo 4-Piston ventilated disc brakes with red brake calipers that match the red mirror caps.
Compared to the standard model, the Launch Edition also boasts unique black wheels, a carbon-fiber plaque on the dashboard displaying the car's production number and Toyota president Akio Toyoda's signature, and a red leather upholstery.
Like the standard car, the Supra Launch Edition is powered by a 3.0-liter turbo inline-6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters, enabling the 2020 Toyota GR Supra to sprint from 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph.
The baseball star's one-of-a-kind Supra has only been driven 16 miles, so it could fetch a fortune when it goes under the hammer at the upcoming Scottsdale Auction in Arizona, which runs from January 11 to 19, 2020. There's no reserve price, however, so it will be interesting to see if the selling price exceeds some of the outrageous dealer markups we've seen for the Launch Edition Supra.
