Based on Looks Alone: 2016 Mazda MX-5 Vs. 2014 MX-5

Has Mazda built a better-looking MX-5?

The long wait is finally over. Just yesterday, Mazda unveiled the first official photos of the all-new 2016 MX-5. It really can’t be mistaken for anything other than an MX-5, or Miata if you prefer. It retains the classic proportions begun with the 1989 original: a two-seat roadster with a short rear deck and longer hood. But it’s also plainly obvious that the move from the outgoing third-generation MX-5 to the new car is a huge leap forward.

Mazda has made clear that in no other time in the car’s history has it undergone such a radical rethink. Then again, so much remains the same. We happen to really like it, but that’s just our humble opinion. We want to hear more from you. So we’ve put together this photo gallery showcasing the new MX-5 and its immediate predecessor. What are your thoughts? Does old look better than new?
