A move away from its wimpy predecessor’s styling, despite going front-wheel drive.

While the outgoing BMW X1 always struck us as a hatchbackwith body-image issues, the next-generation car seems to be beefing-up its game,taking it deeper into the fashionable territory of crossovers. The F48 X1 isexpected in 2016, and will switch to a front-wheel drive platform that willallow for a more spacious interior. An xDrive all-wheel drive version is also expected.The car has been spotted while testing on the Nurburgring, and also receives anew rendering from AutoBild.
