Back in May, Bentley unveiled a special version of the Bacalar with an eye-catching exterior representing the seven colors of the rainbow. To celebrate Pride month in June, the BMW 8 Series Convertible was also given a rainbow-colored makeover. Continuing this rainbow-colored car theme, Bentley has given the Continental GT Convertible a colorful new look to represent the diversity of its workforce. Bentley says this also represents "hope and gratitude" as the company recovers from the global pandemic after suffering huge job losses and support for the local community.
To celebrate, a Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible has been wrapped in a rainbow design showcasing Bentley's bespoke paint colors. The colorful car will be showcased during Cheshire East Virtual Pride 2020, a virtual pride event that will be available to watch online on July 25 featuring interviews, music, competitions, and performances supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
"We embraced the opportunity to create our first rainbow car, because rainbows are recognized as an icon for the LGBTQ+ community and Pride events which celebrate individuality and take place around the world during June and July," said Dr. Astrid Fontaine, Bentley's Member of the Board for People, Digitalisation and IT. "As Bentley steps up its emphasis on the importance of diversity and inclusion, we're delighted to be sponsoring Cheshire East's virtual Pride celebrations on Saturday 25 July - and our rainbow Bentley captures the essence of that perfectly."
The design was inspired by a concept submitted in a competition Bentley held during lockdown for workers and their families, with the winning entry submitted by a five-year-old girl named Eleanor. "Her design also reflects our thanks to the local services that have supported us, and the work many of our colleagues have undertaken to support our local community over the last few months," said Fontaine.
Representing the colors of the rainbow are the vibrant Dragon Red, Orange Flame, Yellow Flame, Apple Green, Sequin Blue, and Azure Purple bespoke Bentley finishes. "The rainbow-wrapped car shows the way we use metallic pigments to create an effect which shows up the body styling lines of the Continental GT Convertible, while the contoured pigments of beautifully polished high gloss surface reflect the environment around it," Maria Mulder, Bentley's Head of Color and Trim, explained.
Like the standard car, the rainbow-colored Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 542 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Bentley has no plans to put this vibrant Continental GT Convertible into production unless someone is willing to make a special request to Bentley's Mulliner personalization division to turn it into a reality.
